How GOGCS Was Born

"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet of nations." (Jeremiah 1:5)

Inadvertently, playing into God's plan, a few folks who had 'passion for prayer' as a common trait, despite differences in denominational affiliations and backgrounds in Christianity came together around mid-year 2011 to establish a prayer warriors' ministry which as they thought would fill a geographic void for lovers of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church. At the time this prayer association was commissioned, the prayer warriors had commitment to their different home churches, but had to fill a yawning void in their spiritual lives which they felt the home churches could not provide. The once a week meeting moved from the different locations including homes of these passionate group to anywhere they had space to pray.

As the prayer band grew with the families of these pioneers and interested cronies joined, the meetings metamorphosed to a house fellowship which at a point was moved around members' houses, but later became stabilized consensually at the now Pastor's house somewhere in Allen TX.

From these regular gatherings in Allen TX, the Lord birthed The Glory of God Cherubim and Seraphim Church (GOGCS), so named through God and under the leadership of Pastor Samuel Ogunyooye in furtherance of the Ecclesiastical heritage of our parent church in Lagos, Nigeria under the spiritual guardianship and leadership of our renowned Father in the Lord, Prophet Joseph Ijaola Ogunyooye (Atunbi Jesu) meaning; A rebirth of Jesus.

"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18)

A repeated and emphatic prophecy about the birth of this church starting from the 1970s to the new millennium by Baba Atunbi Jesu, our human spiritual head and founder of Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Glory of God, Lagos, Nigeria through the grace of God came to be fulfilled on May 6, 2012 as the ribbon was 'scissorsed' at a colorful inauguration service officiated by the Elders of the C & S Agbojesu sub conference in the US.

Our current house of worship is located at 3422 Doug Drive, Dallas, TX 75247. We are a cross-cultural and a multi-racial congregation reaching out to the individuals and families of Dallas-Fort Worth and the World at large! We are a family church and our doors are always open to as many who desire to visit, fellowship, and experience the love of Christ.

History of the
Cherubim & Seraphim

The founder, Moses Orimolade Tunolase, was born in 1879, into the quarters of the royal family of Omoba Ode Sodi of Okorun, in Ikare, Nigeria. Records show that Orimolade's life began strangely. His mother, Madam Odijoro, said that when she was pregnant, she went to the farm to cut some firewood as her practice when, on a particular day as she was ready to leave, she realized she could not lift the firewood she had cut. Suddenly, she heard a voice telling her the easiest way to lift all of the firewood. She looked around but could not find anyone. Then, the voice said, "Do not be frightened, I am the child in your womb. Follow my advice and be on your way." She claimed to have been able to lift the firewood with the help of the unknown voice.

When he was born, his parents had mixed feelings. They were excited about the new addition to their family, but were also embarrassed because of the strange circumstances that surrounded his birth. According to records, "The new child stood up right after his birth and walked around the delivery place." The midwife that helped with his delivery held him down forcefully to stop him from walking. Members of the Cherubim and Seraphim believe that the force of the midwife, in addition to some incantations made by his herbalist father to calm him down on the day he was born, led to Orimolade's "prolonged paralysis". Because his father could no longer bear the embarrassment surrounding his son's birth, he asked Orimolade and his mother to leave his house for good, after which he planned to commit suicide, but was discouraged by family members.

Not long after Orimolade and his mother left his father's house, Orimolade sent a message to his father, telling him to go to a nearby hill (now known by the Cherubim and Seraphim in Ikare as calvary) to ask for forgiveness for his sins. People claim that the message caused Orimolade's father to develop complete depression, which caused him to become ill. He requested that his wife be close to him on his sickbed, and he blessed her, the way an elderly Yoruba man about to die would do. Days after his death, he was buried "honorably."

History has it that one night; Orimolade was in a church singing some songs of praises. Astonished by the voices, the minister, who thought they were the voices of the choir, went over to the church to ask them why they were using the church without his permission. However, upon his arrival, he found that it was just a boy, about 5 years old, singing as though he was a group of choristers. Amazed by this, the minister decided that the church should employ Orimolade to teach them spiritual songs.

After Orimolade left the church, he continued to spread the word around Nigeria, preaching in Benin, Delta, Kwara, and finally Lagos, where he died in 1933. Before his death, he prophesied that the Cherubim and Seraphim was going to spread worldwide, this prophecy has actually come to pass because the church is now known worldwide and has different branches under it.

St. Moses Orimolade Tunolase, Founder of the Cherubim & Seraphim Church

St. Moses Orimolade Tunolase
Founder, Cherubim & Seraphim (1879–1933)

By spiritual inclination, the band was named, Cherubim and Seraphim, the names of angels most proximal to the throne of God as evident in Rev. 4 among other scriptural references. The Church also chose Angel Michael, the one empowered by God to lead God's battle against Satan in Rev. 12 as its patron rather than choosing man.

The depth of the knowledge of activities in the heavenly realm revealed to the founder and progressively his followers led to the inclusion of some heavenly names in our worship and practice which may lead some to think that members of the Church worship Angels. WE DO NOT WORSHIP ANGELS!!! But, we are aware of them as messengers of God in the spirit made in heavenly forms to communicate God's messages to us using the Holy Spirit as a vehicle.

The Church, therefore, believes in spiritual and miraculous power of God to heal infirmities and battle the evil perpetrators and all activities of the agents of Satan. Healing is primarily and largely carried out through prayers, fasting and/or the use of Olive oil and water as sanctified instruments. The church prohibits consultation with witch doctors, traditional diviners and other occult agents, but allows the use of Western medicine.
